Shiatzen Spa: Swedish & Shiatsu Combination Massage $30

That song in your mind that evokes a certain memory and brings ‘that’ feeling of youth and carefree life. How so unrestricted and the spontaneity – oh how you working men are always seeking for that. Shiatzen Spa bears no resemblance to my youth but no matter how many spas I have visited Shiatzen Spa has always invoke that feeling and is a special place in my brain – that desires the spa experience and the indulgence. God I love that feeling. No matter how many times, I’ve booked for the Swedish & Shiatsu Combination massage, Shiatzen Spa has always got it right for me. Although one thing ruins that spontaneity and its down to this – you must always always make a reservation. They don’t like people who drop in, it is unlikely you will get to do the treatment on the spot.

Like for example, one day you were in serious need of a indulgence and deep relaxation which you could get from a good massage therapist, and you decided to quickly head over to Shiatzen Spa in Kiulap but found yourself turned down since the two only therapists are not available. 3 things you can do:

1 – Suck yourself up and go back home disappointed

2 – Go to the Zen Spa, and end up regretting in the end (see Zen Spa: Touch of Zen review)

3 – Head over to HSBC ATM, to get extra cash for the pricey treatments at Thann Sanctuary Spa and be happy. Although you have to ask yourself, have I paid extra $25 when I could achieve the same results in Shiatzen Spa?

So Shiatzen Spa is exclusive and a bit harder to access. Its all part of the allure, that makes people come back.

The combination massage of Swedish and Shiatsu, and the emphasis on soothing the stress muscles on the back – makes my back feel so light and my posture corrected. Its really that good. The relaxing long, continuous strokes of the Swedish massage and the focus of Shiatsu on the neck and head was enough to evoke a state of Zen. A lull of nothingness and deep pleasure bombarding and firing inside your head. The music – playing chantings of Buddhist monks and the sound of heavy rain and the rainforest – hypnotises you into a state of deep meditation if I can say myself. Shiatzen Spa always gets it right, even though I have checked myself for 5 times. The ending of the massage was the only bad part because I don’t want it to stop.

After the massage, the therapist brewed honey and ginger tea for me – the warmth pulsating when I sip it was out of this world. I guess, for that moment in time, it was a getaway from your monotonous and hectic life and be able to forget all about it and just enjoy the pleasurable experience.

Verdict – 11/10

60 minutes of Swedish and Shiatsu Combination massage costs $30. For maximum effect try the 90 minutes massage/$45. Reservation is a must. Call in 8980628 for more details.
