    Sneak Peek

Thanks for being patient.  With the constant heavy rain and tragic news of landslides in the country, treating and pampering yourself is just exactly what you need to soothe the stresses away.

Yes, spa reviews will be coming up soon. This week, I have tried Health Express Spa Kiulap and the return to Thann Sanctuary Spa – I just can’t seem to get over Thann.

    ….

    ..

    ..

    I heart Thann.

Anyway here are a sneak peek on whats to come.

    Thann Sanctuary Spa Revisited

Thann Sanctuary Spa: Foot Reflexology $35 (60 min)

A few days after the wonderful signature aromatic massage I had in Thann Sanctuary Spa, I decided to come back for more and decided to choose a long-time favourite foot reflexology massage. I have become increasingly expert in the foot reflexology with many experience from various spas in the country and I for one have given foot reflexology treatments for people. As usual, the moment I walked inside I was offered aromatic tea and a warm face towel. The face towel has hints of eucalyptus and lavender – indeed very relaxing. Other spas should adopt this. So far Thann Sanctuary Spa has step it up with all these tiny details to make customers come back again. Again the interior never fails to amaze me – it certainly create a mystic and modern aura.

Meanwhile, I was brought to a different room than the one previously and this time backrest seats suited for foot reflexology and the manicure or pedicure. Firstly, was the warm mint plus aromatic oil feet soak to soften heels and invigorate my tired feet. This plus a complimentary head, back and shoulder massage! Thann Sanctuary Spa has done it again. The spa certainly have gone further to make sure their customers were happy and relaxed that they might come back for more. Unfortunately the foot reflexology was average – I have had better and cheaper ones. Makes me think why I should pay $15 extra for the treatment. The aquarium was filled with aquatic plants – some of the plants had floated above the surface. At close inspection, I see tiny shrimps digging down the sand bed. A marine aquarium with corals and clown fishes would be more fitting in this setting.

Not to discredit the foot reflexology in Thann – there’s always room for improvement and I think the massage should be harder and focus on pressure points on the feet. That reminds me of the foot reflexology treatment I had at Asianel Spa, Bukit Bintang KL, which was just perfect and blissful that brings me to that place – state of deep relaxation. Foot reflexology is ideal as a group spa activity between friends and Thann Spa gives the perfect setting for those who appreciate the finest with the beautiful interior and décor.

Overall, not bad but I would recommend elsewhere for better and cheaper foot reflexology.

    Verdict: 8/10

    60 minutes of Foot Reflexology costs $35, 30 mins/$25.

Thann Sanctuary Spa: Thann Signature Aromatic Massage $55 (60 min)

There is a problem in my back after the terrible ordeal from the Touch of Zen massage. It keeps slumping and pushing my spine forward. There it goes my bad posture I’ve been trying to correct. I’m sitting in Thann Sanctuary Spa, a spa well-known with getting awards and accolades as the Top 55 Best Spas in the world by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, in the hustle and bustle of Kiulap area.

    Harnn & Thann

    Harnn & Thann

As the first designer chain spa in Brunei, it separates itself from the rest of the mediocre spas in Brunei with its thoughtful and beautiful interior, using warm grey tones and designer pieces “to induce calm, tranquility and ultimately creating a cocooning effect in contrast to the hectic life” as it says in the leaflet. The moment I walked inside, I am greeted with the smell of aromatherapy oil burning, welcoming and not too overpowering and an array of their products imported from Thailand and the interior is perfect for those who wants to retreat from the hustle – one thing for sure, it looks expensive – the management definitely have extensively spent on their interior.

At the Thann Sanctuary Spa, there’s an array of massages to choose from; the Thann Signature Aromatic Massage with the choice of three different types of oils to choose from and the massage therapists are highly trained and are experienced in spotting your concerns with their extensive knowledge on anatomy. Tea and wet warm towels greeted me when I sat at the waiting area as a sensuous beginning to the massage ahead. I was moved into the space where treatments take place: a room with a custom-made massage bed positioned in the centre and a shower room to take a quick shower prior to the massage. The shower was deeply relaxing with the spa’s own products lined to be used freely – I love their rice bran oil shower foam.

Then the massage – with relaxing Swedish long continuing strokes and intense finger pressures at key areas was enough to make me lull into a relaxing state of being – neither awake nor asleep. The massage was a serious attempt to improve your wellbeing and your state of mind. When the massage was finished, my back felt as though it was floating away! I was asked to let the rice bran oil to seep into my skin for two hours after the massage for maximum benefits of the massage. My skin feels hydrated and glowing for a couple days after the massage treatment! Its the best feeling I’ve felt ever – I have become a Thann convert!

    Verdict: 10/10

60 minutes of Thann Signature Aromatic Massage costs $55, for maximum benefits try the 90 or 120 minutes. Call 223 5599 for reservations or enquiries.

Thank you Hasrul for your wonderful recommendation, Thann Sanctuary was an absolute gem. Friendly genuine service, with everyone extremely well trained and knowledgeable. I have since been here three times – Had a 2 hour Harnn Heritage Massage which was divine twice, and did a package with a scrub, massage and manicure which leave my skin baby smooth, and can truly say they are very consistent with what they do. My experience just seem to get better and better. Its definetly the BEST SPA in Brunei.

I have to second you about Thann Sanctuary. =) Above all the spa i have been, i love Thann Spa the most! The friendlness service i had. The companion of well-trained therapy massage is a bless. What i love most is the peace and serenity that brought up by the place its self. The modern and contemporary architecture had made Thann Santuary the best among all. I have to agree with you. Though its a bit pricey but its worth a life! hehe
